Diamond Clarity: Getting a diamond without flaws.
Evaluating diamond clarity is where experts use special equipment and knowledge to assess the flaws in a diamond. The clarity of a diamond shows you whether the diamond is flawless or whether there are any imperfections and other characteristics, however minor. Perfect clarity in a diamond is unusual, and most diamonds will have some minor imperfections that are not visible to the naked eye but can be picked up by a diamond expert using special equipment. Some of the flaws that may be picked up when determining the clarity of a diamond include spots, discoloration, and cracks in the diamond. These would not be present in a flawless diamond.
Some of the inclusions when determining clarityThere are a number of inclusions when determining the clarity of a diamond. This includes imperfections and flaws inside the diamond; black or white spotting in the diamond; cracks inside the diamond; or discoloration of the diamond. When assessing the clarity experts also look at external blemishes, such as flaws on the surface of the diamond or slight scratches or cracks that can be caused when the diamond is cut or polished.
A diamond that is flawlessThe diamonds that are classed as flawless when being assessed for clarity are those no internal or external flaws when inspected by the experts. Naturally, these diamonds are going to be more costly, as they have a higher value due to their lack of blemishes and imperfections. However, the perfect diamond is a rare gem, and you will find that even diamonds that are not flawless are stunningly beautiful and offer a fiery brilliance like no other gem.
