Diamond Wedding Ring: Different Styles

Diamond wedding rings are different from engagement rings because the diamonds are usually smaller and the setting is different. A solitaire is suitable for an engagement ring, while it is not usually seen in a wedding ring. You don't want to overshadow the engagement ring, yet you want the wedding ring to match.

Wedding ring for the groom

Many men choose to wear a diamond wedding ring so that it matches that of the bride. If the bride has white gold rings, then a platinum ring for the groom containing one or more diamonds is very stylish. At one time men did not wear a wedding ring, but today it is quite common for the couple to exchange rings when they marry. The rings for men have a wider band that that of women and are very comfortable to wear.

Options for a diamond ring

When you decide on having diamond ring, you might assume it consists of one stone already set. However, there are several other options, which include:

  • Buy a diamond only and choose a setting later
  • Choose a diamond with an oval, round or marquise cut
  • Consider your hands and match the shape of the diamond to your hand

Round diamonds suit just about all hands, but if you have long narrow fingers, an oval diamond would be a perfect choice.

Exchanging rings is an age old tradition as a symbol of love and commitment. A ring containing one or more diamonds is more expensive than a plain band. The cost is something else that you have to consider when shopping for rings. When you add this to the total cost of the wedding and the honeymoon, you may decide to just have a plain band to complement the engagement ring.
