Engagement Rings Orange Diamonds

The Orange Diamond Makes
A Truly Unique Piece of Jewelry

An orange diamond is a rare occurrence in nature and will cost you a fortune. However, you can have the orange color diamond in an enhanced stone. This was one of the first colors developed in the line of fancy diamonds. The enhancement does not detract from the quality of the diamond. In fact every diamond, even those used in engagement rings, has been treated or enhanced in some way.

Different colors of diamonds

At one time the orange diamond was the only color you could get in fancy diamonds. Some of these diamonds are more brown than orange, but through the treatment, the orange color shows through. When you first see an orange diamond, you might not think it is real, but diamonds come in all colors, with orange being the most startling color.

There are different shades of yellow in diamonds as well. Some of these shades include:

  • Canary
  • Lemon
  • Marmalade

While many people think that the best diamonds are colorless, some of the most expensive diamonds in the world are colored.

Why Enhance the Color

Some people prefer the colorless diamonds because they reflect the light, thus making them noticeable. There is nothing more noticeable than a fancy colored diamond, especially an orange or yellow diamond. Color is very important when you want to accessorize and being able to afford a different color diamond for each outfit you own would be a dream come true.

The procedure for bringing out the orange and yellow colors in diamonds involves irradiation and high pressure treatment.

  • Irradiation. The diamonds are exposed to radiation under controlled settings to bring out the colors.
  • High Pressure. Diamonds are put under high heat and pressure to try to replicate the conditions under which they are formed in nature.
